girls, pearls, and liberation: a zine
This zine is a coming of age story about the relationships in my life and my own personal journey to becoming a liberated woman. It’s composed of many collaged pieces that all hold meaning to me, and came from the drawers in my room, old letters and cards, my tween tumblr posts, and polaroids going back to the year 2012. Every photo was taken by me from various shoots from over the years, or came from my polaroid, Nikon, or point and shoot. The writing is original and personal- some of it was scanned from my journal. There are words of unapologetic honesty and victorious power. All of the women in this zine helped me on my own personal journey to self love, freedom, and my own sense of women’s liberation. This work is a celebration of becoming myself but also cheering on the women who helped me get here today.
